Farming is now in full swing 03/17/2012

I have been busy getting ready for the new season. I have planted cabbage, broccoli, kale, onions, collards, and swiss chard that I started in the greenhouse. I have peppers and eggplants well under way and the tomatoes are just emerging. Yesterday I planted flats for my flower garden. I still need to plant peas and potatoes but it is raining too much to get in the garden. The daylilies are growing well and ready to dig for sale.

We had a light rain today with wind and the temperature dropped from 60* F to 40* F during the day. I spent the day in the barn bagging shavings and getting the equipment ready to run more shavings. Looks like a new battery will be required for the mill. Went to a shitake mushroom workshop Saturday sponsored by Georgia Organics. Now I have to decide if I want to add that to my many projects. I have been considering getting an organic registration but don't think I want to do the paperwork. I have been using organic methods for over 30 years but can't call my produce organic due to government meddling.
